Difference in Point Size and Tick Size in fxDreema?
-
Hi guys,
Can someone explain to me, as title says, the difference in "Point Size" and "Tick Size" in fxDreema in Market properties?

As I measured it's the same, no difference, so what is the purpose than if no difference?
I use it to make grid and nearby because Japanese Yen pairs has different point size regarding to other pairs...
Many thanks in advanced!
Best regards

I haven't found a universal definition of the point, but often it is the unit of the 6th digit of the asset price. And it can be the same as the tick size which is the minimum quotation change of the price. For what you do you should better rely on points I guess.
Just that grid strategies are bad idea. -
Thank you for your answer, but why should I better rely on points if it is the same?

@Prot82
Point is the minimum price precision you can set in trading. Tick is the precision of price on chart. I think point is more relevant.Sure both the same in most cases. But there are many instruments, such as WTI and stocks, and many types of account, say, cent account. Point and tick can be different

Thank you very much, I didn't know that. Can you send me some article about it or any tutorial link?

As I understand, the point should be smallest fraction of price. And is one tenth (1/10) of Pip.
Tick should be one movement of price on chart including slippage, so tick could be 1 point or 3 point or 7 point in one movement on chart
Am I right?

@Prot82
Be careful. XAUUSD, for example, do you think 1 pip = 10 points?In my case, they are the same

a point is generally 1/10 of a pip in forex, other assets are different, brokers class them different as well
