Drag .EX4 to chart -> Nothing happens

Hi a friend has sent me a Dreema expert .ex4 file over email, I've copied to the Data -> MQL4 -> Experts folders as per usual, it shows up in my navigator but when I drag to a chart nothing happens. I've never experienced this before. I'm on the latest build but I've just tried on an older back testing terminal too and no luck.

What's even stranger is he just forwarded me another email he'd previously sent to a relative and that file works at their end, but when I try, exactly the same story: no properties window, no unhappy face - nada.

Has anyone experienced this before or know the cause/fix?

I've noticed Windows isn't applying the expert icon to the file in explorer either, though has EX4 under type like every other expert in the folder. Any help would be much appreciated.

PS file is exceptionally large too - 280kb - never seen a .ex4 this big before ... is this normal with Dreema?

I have seen files much larger as you mentioned and was working great, so it is not file size issue.
If possible, your friend can recompile his project with same metaeditor version as your matatrader.
If .ex file exist and will not give you settings window, most often it is version incompatibility (if placed folder is right - indicator in indicators, expert in experts, etc).

Thanks guys you've solved it! Feel a little silly for not checking the log/assuming broker was on latest build

I'm on 1010 from August 18 @ Darwinex and IC Markets - contacting now to see what the story is.

Edit: 1010 is latest build so I guess the error is incorrect and this was compiled on an older unsupported build?

MetaQuotes sometimes change their format and older .ex4 files can't work anymore, but now I don't think that this is the problem now. On the server I use compilers that are month or two old and everything works on my MetaTrader build 1012. Note that there are many other people working with fxDreema every day as well. Even the desktop version, which is from 2015 still works for me
