Doubt with SELL and BUY
-
Good morning! I have a question that worries me from the beginning and I do not know if I am applying it well or not. The question is the following, when I select the option in SELL or BUY in the "Money management" the option "% of Equity => Lots" or "% of Balance =>" if my account is € 1000 and I want a risk of 0.5% in the "How much ..." box, which number should I put 0.5, 5, 50 or 500. Thank you very much.

@xyon126 From instructions: % of Equity => Lots
Using this setting you will get a lot sizes depending on your current Equity.
If you currently have equity of $1000, then with setting of 100% you will get a lot size of 0.01 lots when 1 lot equals to $100,000.

@xyon126 It depends on what are you basing that calculation on. Balance or equity?

@xyon126 here we are talking about percentage based on total capital or equity, it being understood that the minimum tradable remains 0.01. Therefore this type of money management comes in handy when the capital is high enough.Assuming you have a capital of 1000 € and I enter 300 (ie 300%) 0.03 is the volume that is taken. It only serves to determine the volume of the position not the risk. Otherwise you have to use "risk% of Equity" in this case choose the percentage to risk and the calculation is done taking into account the stop loss. Sorry if i still don't understand.

@l-andorrà I am interested in knowing how it would be in both, since I understand that it is different from what you comment regardless of whether the resulting lot is 0.001 and the minimum admitted is applied at the end.
@miki, the lot is not the problem, I know that with 1000€ a lot lower than 0.01 can come out, which is the minimum but as the capital increases the resulting lot will be higher, but what I need to know is either 1000€ or 10000€ as the percentage is put in the "Money Management" really, I would not want to put "100" thinking that the result would be 0.1% and the reality is 100% which is all the capital (I know that is impossible) and in Instead of having a Lot of 0.1, I would get a Lot of 10.

The easiest way to try both options is just by creating a small testing bot with variables in then choose different % numbers. I prefer to use '% of Balance --> lots'. The number you should use then is the exact percentage you are thinking of: 50 means 50% of your current balance.

So if I understand correctly, if I want the Money Management to be 0.5% of the real Balance or the real Equity in the box, I must put 0.5, is that so? naturally regardless of the Lottery that turns out that is another matter.

@xyon126 Exactly. That is correct.
